Email Settings

At the moment Chattanooga Online has two possible setups for your email. The first setup is specific to our dialup and email only users that are using the chattanooga.net domain name. The second setup is for email addresses that are hosted on one of our Cpanel® email servers. If you are not sure if your domain is hosted on a Cpanel® server please contact Chattanooga Online support at 423-267-8867.

Chattanooga.net email addresses

If you have an email address that ends with the chattanooga.net domain name you need to use the following settings.

Required Settings 

  • Incoming Mail Server - mail.chattanooga.net
  • Outgoing Mail Server - smtp.chattanooga.net
  • Username - Assigned upon account creation or the left hand side of your email address, i.e. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
  • Password - Assigned upon account creation

Optional Settings

  • SMTP Authentication - If you are an email only customer or you are checking your email from outside of the Chattanooga Online network you need to enable this. Please see our email client tutorials for more help. If you enable this option make sure you also check the setting to use the same username and password as your incoming email.
  • Leave a copy on the server - If you frequently use Chattanooga Online webmail to check your mail and you would like to make sure your recent email remains on the server even after you download your new messages check this option. Please be aware that your account may have a mail quota nd enabling this option could cause yoru account to use up its quota which will prevent you from receiving new mail messages.

Cpanel® email addresses

If you have your own domain name and it is hosted on one of our Cpanel® servers your email setup is a bit different.

Required Settings 

  • Incoming Mail Server - mail.yourdomainname.com
  • Outgoing Mail Server - mail.yourdomainname.com
  • Username - Your entire email address, eg. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
  • Password - Assigned upon account creation

 

Optional Settings

  • SMTP Authentication - If you are an email only customer or you are checking your email from outside of the Chattanooga Online network you need to enable this.
